Pune has gained further prominence as a financial hub with State Bank of India inaugurating its Local Head Office (LHO) in the city.
The new LHO will serve districts across eastern and southeastern Maharashtra, bringing decision-making closer to local markets.
Inaugurating the facility, Nirmala Sitharaman said, “This move is an indication of how SBI is moving forward to meet the aspirations of Viksit Bharat 2047.”
The Maharashtra circle has been reorganised to enhance regional responsiveness, with Mumbai continuing to cater to the financial capital and Goa.
“SBI’s strengthened presence in Maharashtra through this new LHO is aligned with State Govt.’s own vision of economic development,” said M. Nagaraju.
Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty highlighted Pune’s economic significance, noting its strong share in deposits and lending.
