As mobility platforms increasingly integrate public transport into their ecosystems, Uber has launched metro ticket booking for Pune commuters through the ONDC network.
The feature enables users to purchase QR-based Pune Metro tickets directly within the Uber app without switching applications or waiting at ticket counters. Pune is the fifth city in India to receive the service after Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai.
The launch reflects growing momentum in India’s integrated urban mobility push, where ride-hailing platforms are combining public transit with last-mile connectivity services.
Uber said commuters can pay for metro tickets through UPI and continue journeys using services such as Uber Auto, Bike and Go. The company is also offering a 50% discount of up to ₹10 on metro bookings for a limited period.
During his India visit earlier this year, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said more than 10 million metro journeys had already been booked through the app nationwide.
Neha Kapoor, Head – Strategic Initiatives, Uber India & South Asia, said, “We’re seeing strong adoption as commuters increasingly look for faster, more connected ways to move around cities.”
