Tata Asset Management Targets ‘New Age’ Consumer With Multicap Index Strategy

Tata Asset Management has launched a new passive investment product aimed at capturing India’s shift towards discretionary and aspirational spending.

The Tata BSE Multicap Consumption 50:30:20 Index Fund follows a structured allocation across market caps and draws from the top 100 consumption stocks within the BSE 500 universe. The index includes companies classified as large, mid or small caps based on their inclusion in the BSE 100 LargeCap, BSE 150 MidCap, or BSE 250 SmallCap indices.

The index is scheduled to be rebalanced semi-annually in June and December. The top 80 stocks are automatically retained during rebalancing, while stocks ranked between 81 and 120 are considered until the final constituent count of 100 is achieved.

The fund is positioned to benefit from rising disposable incomes and premiumisation trends among Indian consumers.
