SWITCH flags off electric buses for Prasanna-Purple, enters private intercity segment

Switch Mobility Electric Buses launched on Mumbai–Pune corridor as SWITCH expands the intercity mobility segment.

SWITCH Mobility’s deployment of electric intercity coaches on the Mumbai–Pune route marks a broader shift in India’s mobility landscape, as private operators begin adopting EVs for long-distance travel.

The partnership with Prasanna Purple Mobility Solutions and Vertelo brings together vehicle manufacturing, operations and financing to support the transition to electric mobility in the intercity segment.

With a 25-bus order, the deployment highlights growing confidence in EV technology for high-frequency routes that demand reliability and operational efficiency.

“With intercity mobility continuing to evolve, we are building on our experience in the segment and remain committed to accelerating the adoption of reliable, efficient, and future-ready electric mobility solutions via valuable partnerships,” said Ganesh Mani, CEO-Switch.

Prasanna Patwardhan, CMD – Prasanna-Purple, added, “Entering the intercity electric mobility segment is a significant milestone for us. This collaboration introduces a cleaner travel option on the Mumbai–Pune route while enhancing the journey experience and promoting sustainability. We value our long-term partnership with Switch Mobility for E-Mobility Solutions.”

The move comes as operators explore electric alternatives to reduce emissions and improve cost efficiency in intercity transport operations.
