SMFG India Credit’s 8th edition of Pashu Vikas Day concluded on February 14, reaching more than 1.55 lakh beneficiaries across 16 states.
The initiative treated approximately 1.4 lakh cattle and supported healthcare needs of over 14,000 individuals, benefiting more than 30,000 rural households. Conducted across 510 Gramshakti branches, the programme provided free veterinary check-ups, medicines, vaccinations, and advisory support on livestock productivity.
With Maharashtra hosting 59 camps serving 19,000+ cattle and 5,200+ households, the programme reinforced the company’s grassroots outreach.
Launched in 2014, Pashu Vikas Day has grown into one of India’s largest single-day cattle welfare programmes. The theme ‘Sarvottam Seva: Pashu, Parivar aur Pragati’ underscored the link between livestock care and financial stability in agrarian communities.
The initiative has earned multiple recognitions over the years, culminating in a Guinness World Record in 2025 for conducting the largest cattle welfare lesson simultaneously across multiple locations.
SMFG India Credit, operating since 2007, serves underserved retail and small business borrowers across India. It is a subsidiary of Japan-based Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group.
