Mauritius has added 100 electric buses to its public transport fleet, supplied by India-based SWITCH Mobility as part of an initiative to promote cleaner mobility.
The buses, operated by the National Transport Corporation, are expected to improve public transport efficiency while reducing emissions in the island nation.
The final batch of buses was handed over during an official engagement between India and Mauritius, reflecting cooperation between the two countries in sustainable infrastructure.
The buses come equipped with modern features including real-time monitoring systems, improved stability and faster charging capabilities.
The deployment is aimed at supporting Mauritius’ efforts to modernise its public transport system and transition to electric mobility.
On completion of this order, Mr. Ganesh Mani, CEO of Switch Mobility, stated, “The completion of our 100-bus delivery is a key milestone in Mauritius’ transition to electric mobility. As a global EV manufacturer, we are proud to support the country’s commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable public transport system, enhancing urban efficiency and the commuter experience.”
