SpaceX and NASA have announced plans to launch their Crew-9 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) no earlier than August 18. This update comes shortly after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) gave the green light for SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket to return to space. The rocket had been grounded due to a mid-flight failure earlier this month, which resulted in the loss of a payload of Starlink satellites.
The Falcon 9 rocket, known for its frequent use, had experienced its first failure in over seven years. The mission’s successful relaunch marks a significant milestone for both SpaceX and the global space industry.
The Crew-9 mission will be the ninth crew rotation mission to the ISS. It will carry NASA astronauts Zena Cardman, Nick Hague, and Stephanie Wilson, along with Russian cosmonaut Alexander Gorbunov. They will travel aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, which will be launched atop the Falcon 9 rocket.
